Can I book the Inca Trail permits independently?
No. According to Peruvian government regulations, it is impossible to purchase permits independently or hike the Inca Trail without a licensed guide and an officially registered agency.
What should I do if my desired date is completely sold out?
Permits are strictly linked to personal passport details, non-transferable, and non-refundable. If your date is sold out, we recommend choosing adjacent dates or selecting alternative scenic routes such as the Salkantay Trek or Lares Trek which do not require strict permit systems.
Are permit balances updated in real-time on your calendar?
Yes, the permit calendar queries the database which synchronizes directly with the government reservation system. If permits show as available, we recommend finalizing your booking immediately as spaces can sell out within minutes.
Is the physical passport mandatory at the checkpoint?
Yes. You must bring the same physical passport used during registration. Digital copies or scans are not accepted. If you renew your passport before your trip, you must bring both your old and new physical passports to the checkpoint.
